Publish a "comment +1 and we'll DM you a code" post, and let a comment reply
bot reply under each comment, send the commenter a discount code by direct
message and tag them; add a LINE add-friend link in the message to bring
Facebook and Instagram fans over to LINE for the long term. This recipe ties
together comment reply bots, tags and a New/Existing Friend Link.
---

After reading this, you'll be able to run a "comment +1 for a code" social campaign: when fans comment on a chosen post, the bot instantly replies under the comment and tags them, sends the discount code by direct message, and applies a tag. The message also includes a LINE add-friend link so participants move over to LINE.

## Before you start

* The workspace must be connected to a **Facebook Page** or an **Instagram business account**. To bring fans to LINE, it also needs a connected **LINE Official Account**.
* You need "Editable" permission for **Facebook Comment Reply Bot** (or **Instagram Comment Reply Bot**) and **Tag Management**.
* On the Free plan, each platform can have up to 10 comment reply bots.

## The whole flow

![Comment campaign flow: publish a "comment +1 and we'll DM you a code" post → a comment reply bot restricted to this post, with the trigger keyword containing "+1" and the tag "Commented for code" on trigger → a comment reply with Member Name plus "Check your DMs!" and a direct message with the code and a LINE add-friend link → find participants by tag while the link brings fans to LINE](https://docs.oakmega.com/en/recipe/images/comment-to-message-01-flow.png)

Here's how the data flows: a fan comments on the **campaign post** → the **comment reply bot** matches the post and keyword → it **replies publicly** under the comment and sends the code by **direct message** → the commenter is **tagged** → the **LINE link** in the message brings them into LINE.

## Steps

| Step | Where | What to set in this scenario |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Prepare a tag | Member & Tag › Tag Management | Create "Commented for code" |
| 2. Prepare a LINE add-friend link (optional) | Link Tool › New/Existing Friend Link | Create a "FB comment campaign" link that tags new friends "Source: FB comments" |
| 3. Publish the campaign post | Facebook Page / Instagram | Say clearly "Comment +1 and we'll DM you a code" |
| 4. Create the comment reply bot | Meta › Facebook (or Instagram) › Comment Reply Bot | Restrict Posts to this post; Trigger Keyword Contain "+1"; Add Tag on Trigger "Commented for code"; set the comment reply and direct message reply |
| 5. Test, then go live | Facebook / Instagram | Comment once with your own account and check the public reply, the message and the tag |

### 1. Prepare a tag

Create "Commented for code" first so the comment reply bot can select it; see [Create and manage tags](https://docs.oakmega.com/en/guide/members/tag-management.md).

### 2. Prepare a LINE add-friend link (optional)

To move participants to LINE, create a dedicated link under **Link Tool › New/Existing Friend Link** that tags new friends "Source: FB comments". You'll then see how many LINE friends this campaign brought; see [Compare how many new friends each channel brings](https://docs.oakmega.com/en/recipe/channel-friend-tracking.md).

### 3. Publish the campaign post

Publish a post on your Page or Instagram that explains how to join, for example "Comment +1 and we'll DM you a 10% off code". The comment reply bot can only select the post once it's published.

### 4. Create the comment reply bot

Create a comment reply bot under **Meta › Facebook › Comment Reply Bot** (Instagram has its own under Instagram). What matters in this scenario:

1. Set **Trigger Account and Post** to **Restrict Posts**, click **Select Post** and check this campaign post, so comments on other posts don't trigger it.
2. Set **Trigger Keyword** to **Restrict Keywords**, type "+1" under **Contain** and press Enter. Contain is more forgiving than Equals, so "+1 want it" still counts.
3. Set **Add Tag on Trigger** to "Commented for code".
4. On the **Comment Reply** tab, click **Create Reply**, insert **Member Name** first, then write "Check your DMs!". Keep it to one reply — all five would be posted under the comment.
5. On the **Direct Message Reply** tab, add the code and how to use it, plus another message with the LINE add-friend link from step 2, such as "Add us on LINE for member-only offers".
6. Keep the bot's status off until you've saved, then turn it on.

For every field, see [Set up comment reply bots](https://docs.oakmega.com/en/guide/chatbot/comment-reply-bot.md).

### 5. Test, then go live

After turning the bot on, comment "+1" on the campaign post from your own or a colleague's account and check that:

* a public reply that tags you appears under the comment;
* the code arrives in Messenger (or Instagram Direct);
* the member appears under **Meta › Facebook › Member Management** with the "Commented for code" tag.

## How to check it worked

| To find out | Where to look |
|---|---|
| How many people joined | Click the bot in the comment reply bot list and check trigger count and trigger users under **Bot Statistics**, or the member count of "Commented for code" |
| Who joined | **Meta › Facebook › Member Management**: use Advanced Filter for members tagged "Commented for code"; see [View and filter Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp members](https://docs.oakmega.com/en/guide/members/meta-member-list.md) |
| How many LINE friends it brought | The New Friends Count in the Link Data of the link from step 2, or the member count of "Source: FB comments" |

## Variations

* **Run it on Facebook and Instagram**: each platform has its own comment reply bots, so create one per platform with the same content; they can share the tag.
* **Reply even without a keyword**: set Trigger Keyword to No Restriction to answer every comment; if a Restrict Keywords bot also matches the same post, that one replies first.
* **Hand over to a person after the message**: turn on **Service Center Transfer** in the bot so commenters land in Service Center for one-on-one questions; see [Handle conversations in Service Center](https://docs.oakmega.com/en/guide/service-center/handle-conversations.md).
